The Lilongwe University of Agriculture and Natural Resources saw the launch of AIP-Malawi activity in April this year. The activity is aimed at utilizing the latest agriculture technology to connect with the farmers that face lack of resources. The project has been made possible due to a collaboration of three parties, viz. Sathguru Management Consultants, Cornell University, USA and Malawi's Lilongwe University of Agriculture and Natural Resources. The program aims to make use of e-learning tools to give rise to a fully equipped seed processing facility along with seed enterprise development.
On 4th September, the Bunda Campus of the University was visited by H.E. Vanlalhuma, India's High Commissioner to Malawi. Mr. Vanlalhuma interacted with Prof. G.Y. Kanyama Puri, the Vice Chancellor of the University. The High Commissioner was informed about the progress made by the University in the USAID supported project 'Agricultural Innovation Partnership "“ Malawi (AIP-Malawi)'.
Mr. Phiri underlined the significance of the AIP-Malawi and its role in strengthening the seed processing and production system, which in turn would ensure food security in Malawi. According to him, the collaboration of LUANAR faculty and the Indian state agricultural Universities would certainly boost the agricultural professions in Malawi.
The faculty members were seen freely interacting with the High Commissioner on the occasion. The faculty members were all praise about their experience on a recent visit to India. Mr. Vanlalhuma also took this opportunity to shower praise on the faculty and appreciated their efforts which have brought prosperity to the region. He also pledged complete support go the faculty of the University and assured them of support and help in building links with Indian stakeholders.

The United States Agency for International Development (USAID) launched the high potential 'Agricultural Innovation Partnership (AIP-Malawi)' under its highly ambitious 'Feed the Future' program. The major focus of this initiative is to enhance the Malawi farmers' quality of life, along with ensuring food security. The program aims to improve the quality of agricultural professionals in Malawi.
About Lilongwe University of Agriculture and Natural Resources (Luanar)
The year of 1967 saw the establishment of Bunda College of Agriculture, along with which LUANAR came into being. LUANAR became operational on 1st July 2012. Being the lone institute of agriculture in Malawi, LUANAR boasts of great relations with other organizations involved in the same sector.
