According to a survey, a higher number of enrolments for online education and skill enhancement are expected from major tier-2 cities so these are likely to show a significant upward trend.

The study was conducted by Talentedge (an interactive education company) and the results were that media/entertainment and IT/ITES have been identified as two industries that will constantly seek skill development in 2016.

The factors, due to which the graph of online education will move forward are- easy accessibility to world class institutes at affordable prices, ease of learning while earning, dynamic and fast-paced domain growth and desirable promotions or job changes.

As per Talentedge CEO and MD Aditya Malik, online education is booming as India is on the verge of a digitally empowered era. They launched a survey "Digital India" six months back which helped them to evaluate the level of acceptance and adoption of online education pan India.

The study revealed that candidates completing their professional degree would opt for online programmes and the maximum takers for online education will come from the tier-2 cities.

There are some advantages but there are a few obstacles too which can be a major barrier for online education like internet connectivity issues, hesitation to move away from the brick and mortar system of learning, credibility of the programme provider and affordability.

Malik further added that the survey introduced by them can use as a measure for identifying the barriers that require immediate attention. It can be used to strengthen the process of digitizing the country.
