IIT Kharagpur, the premier engineering institute in the country, has signed a MoU with Australia's Curtin University based on which it will offer DDDP (Dual Doctoral Degree Program) to the interested students.
According to the points mentioned in the MoU signed, a PhD student from IIT Kharagpur would be inducted into the DDDP program, provided that he or she is academically accepted by the Curtin University.
Post the induction into the program, the student will be required to stay in Australian University for a period of one year. While his or her International travel expenses would be supported by IIT Kharagpur, Curtis University would look after his or her local expenses and the other needs in Australia.
In a similar manner, the PhD students of Curtis University can apply for the program to study at IIT Kharagpur for a period of one year. Sustainability, future of cities, smart cities, engineering asset management, and mining, earth and energy will be the major focus areas of the DDDP program.
Apart from this, IIT Kharagpur has a MoU in place with a number of other universities including the University of Wollongong from New South Wales for a similar kind of a program. The institute intends to sign more such MoUs in the coming months.
A few days back, the IIT and the Curtis University organized a joint workshop to let the students know about the details of the program.
