KOLKATA: In a global survey for international institutions, IIT Kharagpur was ranked the most employable Indian institution in India. Apart from IIT Kharagpur, IIT Bombay has also made it into the top 100 of these rankings.
Quacquarelli Symonds (QS) recently came out with the all new Graduate Employability Rankings, and placed our very own IITKGP at 77th and IITB at 93rd spot on its list.
Other Indian institutes up on this list are IIT Madras (rank 119), IIT Delhi (160) and University of Delhi (175).
The top 5 positions were taken by Stanford, MIT, Harvard, Cambridge and Yale.
IITKGP managed a score of 51.0, being almost at par with University of Liverpool (score 53), University of Lancaster (52.9) and Pennsylvania State University (52).
IIT Kharagpur got impressive scores in 'graduate employability rate' and 'employers' presence'. The institute garnered the most pre-placement offers for the session 2015-16 amongst all IITs, and hence invited due attention and recognition from QS. With the highest number of graduates on the IITKGP campus, 1500 students get placements every year with noteworthy compensation packages.
Director PP Chakraborty said that all students at the campus are highly talented. The institute's interdisciplinary method, in addition to compulsory industrial trainings prepares students very well for their new jobs.
The QS Graduate Employability Rankings is the 1st project of its kind by QS, where in over 44000 responses were analyzed from 1239 institutions globally for over a year. It was only after an extensive research basis multiple parameters, that the rankings list was created. The report was finally released on Thursday at the Young Universities Forum in Melbourne.
