IIT Guwahati introduced Prime Minister’s scholarship scheme for the J&K students

Indian Institute of Technology, Guwahati (IITG) in association with the All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE) has implemented the Prime Minister’s scholarship scheme for the J&K students. An MoU has been signed in this effect which will provide a path for the youth of J&K to the advanced academic institutions of higher learning.

The MoU was signed recently during the IIT Council meeting between professor TG Sitharam, director of IITG and professor Anil D Sahasrabudhe, chairman of AICTE, in the presence of union minister for human resource development (HRD), Ramesh Pokhriyal.

According to the MoU, IIT Guwahati will enroll 100 meritorious students from the J&K in batches of 25 from next year for the internship.

“IIT Guwahati has always believed in empowering the world beyond its campus and own students. This exchange of agreement will channelize the energy of the talented youth from Jammu and Kashmir by providing them exposure to cutting edge laboratory. Apart from knowledge sharing and exchange, several co-curricular activities will also be organized for these meritorious students,” said IITG director, Sitharam, while underlining the benefits of the MoU.

“The internships will be primarily in the field of research and will be done under various professors at the institute. The Centre of Educational Technology will also demonstrate model experiments in physics and chemistry along with the respective departments,” said a spokesperson of the institute.
