To match international standards of studies, Indian educational system felt the need to revise the syllabus. Council of School Certificate Examination (CISCE), a private Board of Examinations in India, has decided to change History, Civics, Geography, Mathematics, Physics, and English Syllabus.

After revised syllabus, burden over students will be reduced. Report suggests that topics have been interchanged between the classes but the content remains the same. With old pattern, students face problems in preparing for competitive exams, this revised syllabus helps students to prepare for different types of competitive exams, and build their confidence. The other reason for syllabus change is, CISCE affiliated schools in rural areas are not finding eligible and qualified teachers because of high standard of English. For this the council decided to provide CDs to teachers to explain the topics via smart classes.

Report states that CISCE decided to introduce HARRY POTTER, SHERLOCK HOLMES, Autobiographies of ANNE FRANK, MALALA and A P J ABDUL KALAM to be part of revised syllabus. As English is a universally accepted language it is important that more people will learn it. Such interesting topics will grab the student’s attention. Students can relate it with their lives and can understand better to connect with the whole world.

Principal of Central Model School, Mr. BARANAGAR NABARUNDE said: “They were happy with this step, something interesting should be there. Serious study is not every-thing”.
