The ever increasing number of engineering colleges in the country is a cause for much concern majorly because it has resulted in a huge drop in the quality of engineering graduates coming out of the country year after year. And now there is a new concern "“ vacant seats.
Enlistment for induction into engineering and medical schools has finished in Gujarat. Authorities of the Admission Committee for Professional Courses (ACPC) are concerned on the grounds that exclusive 48,000 students have enrolled for 71,000 seats meant for the engineering courses in 138 universities over the state.
According to a number of sources, the authorities are expecting a record number of seats, 30,000, to stay empty this year. They said, as it seems to be, toward the end of the enrollment stage, 23,000 seats are empty. Authorities said it has been noticed that around 15% of students quit when they neglect to get their preferred branch. This time the quantity of such students is required to be 7000-odd: that prompts the estimation of general opportunity of 30,000.
The low enrolment of students will prompt a fall in the legitimacy score cut-off for designing schools. Authorities said that last year 22,000 seats had been empty after the last confirmation round. The ACPC has chosen that after two rounds of affirmation, it will give the administration of schools a chance to fill empty seats. The ACPC said that after the two rounds, schools will be permitted to concede even students who have not taken the Joint Entrance Examination. The ACPC will now set up the last legitimacy list after which the students will give their decisions of schools. The main fake round is relied upon to start by end of the following week. Not long after this, the primary rounds of the affirmation will be led.
