Many a times, the government school teachers have cited the lack of resources as the reason behind the students lagging behind their grade level. With Delhi government now seems to have heard the demand of the teachers and decided to equip them all with tablet computers and internet devices so that they can use online learning methods to help the students.

The government plans to begin the distribution of these tablets in the next couple of months. These devices would also be used by the teachers to mark the attendance of the students. As soon as the teacher marks a student present, a sms would be sent to the parents of that particular child. The government is planning to over 50,000 teachers in this program.

Atishi Marlena, who works as the advisor to the state’s education minister Manish Sisodia, said, "Most teachers complain that they cannot give more time for teaching as they are engaged in data entry or management works like maintenance of attendance registers, preparation of students' report cards, etc. In view of this, we have decided to give tablets to the teachers of all government schools. Education and Information Technology Department have been directed to work out the modalities of the project.”

She also said that once these tablets arrive, the teachers won’t be required to enter the students’ marks in the report cards, thus saving their time. Since the state has a separate education budget, it can implement this program without awaiting a nod from the central government.
