To ensure that every child in the nation receives education till the matriculation level, the government of India is planning to make the studies in government schools free of cost till class 10th.
The Human Resource Development Ministry has planned to reform the pre-school level and secondary level education system in the country so as to provide quality of education to all the students in the nation. Dr. SC Khuntia, secretary, school education and literacy, as per an English news daily: "We have formed a committee in the HRD Ministry to evaluate the education for classes 9 and 10, which should be universalized. The government is planning to tackle the issue by overhauling the education policy and shifting focus on pre-school education". This initiative will, in turn, help students belonging to the families that have a financial crisis to complete their matriculate studies without any burden.
In accordance with our Constitution, free and compulsory education is being provided up to Class 8 under the Right to Education Act. According to a report by the UNICEF, as much as 36% students in India leave school even before completing elementary education. Therefore, this initiative will be a massive step towards a brighter future of these young guns who will contribute to the progress of the nation in the near future.
