Technology giant, Google, announced a new educational program for the children, which is designed to teach kids about how to be safe on internet and prevent themselves from phishing, internet harassment and protect their passwords.

All this Google will teach through a program named 'Be internet awesome', which includes a classroom curriculum and a video game named as Interland.

"For kids to really make the most of the web, we need to provide guidance as they learn to make their own smart decisions online," Pavni Diwanji, Vice President of the Engineering for kids and families, said in a Google blogpost on Tuesday.

"With school out and summer break giving kids more time to spend on the Internet, it's a great time to introduce Be Internet Awesome: a new way to encourage digital safety and citizenship," Diwanji added.

Following are the section which are included in the program and will be taught to the children:

  • How to limit sharing personal information online
  • How to avoid falling for the scams and phishing attacks
  • Creating strong passwords
  • Avoiding negative internet behavior
  • 'Be internet awesome' pledge

Interland, which is a game, will act as a sweetener and will get the children interested in the program. The program has been developed in collaboration with the online safety experts like the Family Online Safety Institute, the Internet Keep Safe Coalition and ConnectSafely.

According to the verge.com "The program is compliant with International Society for Technology in Education standards, awarded to programs that promote a range of tech-savvy skills".
