The last date to submit an online application form for the Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE) is September 21 i.e. today.This year, the exam is being conducted by the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Madras and is scheduled for February 2, 3, 9, and 10, 2019. The exam is conducted on 24 subjects such as Aerospace Engineering, Agricultural Engineering, Architecture and Planning, Biotechnology, Civil Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Instrumentation Engineering, Mathematics and Mechanical Engineering etc. A new paper on Statistics (ST) has also been added in GATE 2019.
Application fee
The exam fee for the students belonging to the general category is INR 1500 and for the women and candidates belonging to the reserved category is INR 750. Candidates from foreign nationals will have to submit a fee of $50 for the exam.
The score of the GATE exam is valid for three years from the date of declaration. The scores are also used by Public Sector Undertakings (PSUs) such as Bharat Heavy Electricals Limited (BHEL), Gas Authority of India Limited (GAIL), Hindustan Aeronautics Limited (HAL), Indian Oil Corporation Limited (IOCL), National Thermal Power Corporation (NTPC), Nuclear Power Corporation of India Limited (NPCIL), Oil and Natural Gas Corporation (ONGC) and Power Grid Corporation of India (PGCI) to shortlist the candidates for various positions within the organizations.
Candidates for the Group A level posts in the Central government are also shortlisted on the basis of GATE score.
