Fursatganj in UP to be the birth place for the India's First Aviation University

Retired Air Vice-Marshal Nalin Tandon has been appointed as the vice chancellor of the university.

The first aviation university of the nation is all set for the inauguration on August 18 and the will be established in the Fursatganj in Uttar Pradesh's Rae Bareli district.

According to the officials of the Rajiv Gandhi National Aviation University (RGNAU) following officials are expected to attend the inaugural event of the university:

  • Civil Aviation Minister, Ashok Gajapathi Raju
  • Deputy of Ashok Gajapathi Raju, Jayant Sinha
  • Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath
  • Congress vice president and Amethi MP Rahul Gandhi

The university will act as an autonomous body under the administrative control of the Ministry of Civil Aviation and the main aim of the University will be to promote the aviation studies, teaching, training and research.

Retired Air Vice-Marshal Nalin Tandon has been appointed as the vice chancellor of the university.


The officials, who did not wish to be named, said "the university is planning the launch of its flagship program in 2018 at its campus in
Fursatganj. A number of management development programs have also been planned and shall be conducted in subsequent years".

The proposal for setting up the aviation university was approved by the Cabinet in 2013.
