From 2018 CBSE to conduct Board exams in the month of February

The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) has taken this step to advance the cycle of exams and related activities from 2018-19 as a part of reforms focused on "error-free evaluation."

In an attempt to regain the trust of the people and boost its image after making horrible blunder in class 12 marks totaling, CBSE recently announced that from 2018 it will conduct the board exams of class 10 and 12 in the month of February which will one month earlier as opposed to the traditional schedule.

According to the reports from TOI, " the board has taken this step to advance the cycle of exams and related activities from 2018-19 as a part of reforms focused on error-free evaluation".

  • CBSE further said that it will conclude the whole process of board examination in 45 days.
  • Generally, the board start the exam for class 10 and 12 in the first week of March and conclude in April Mid.

Talking about the re-valuation process of the CBSE, a senior official from the board said, "The board has taken a prompt decision to set up two committees comprising senior officers to look into the problems related to the evaluation processes being followed".

"By April, vacations begin and the experienced teachers are not available. Therefore, advancing evaluation to mid-March will ensure we have the best teachers checking the answer scripts. Otherwise, in April during vacations, schools offer us only temporary, ad-hoc and newly-appointed teachers for the evaluation exercise as experienced teachers don't oblige," said Chaturvedi,

"The exam inactions should start around February 15 and we are also planning to complete them within a month." Otherwise it has been a neck-and-neck affair," said the chairperson to TOI.
