The University Grants Commission has asked all the institutions and universities to plan a trip to the memorials of the Indian freedom fighters for the coming Independence Day.

Next week, the country will celebrate the 70th year of the Independence.

“Faculty should be requested to conduct guided tour of students to memorials of freedom fighters and places/houses of any martyr from military, para-military and police, to acquaint the students about contribution of the freedom fighters. Prime minister's endeavor to have a terrorism-free, caste-free, corruption- free, uncleanness-free and poverty-free society would only actualize with the help of the society and make his vision a reality,” UGC Secretary J S Sandhu said to all the vice-chancellors in a communication across all universities across the nation.


Sandhu also requested the VCs that on August 9 they should organize a pledge taking ceremony in order to make India a 'terrorism-free, caste -free, corruption-free, uncleanness-free and poverty-free nation'.

He also urged the universities to hold the talks from eminent educationist of the nation and to organize the quiz competition regarding the events which took place during the country's struggle for the freedom.
