New Delhi:

Prakash Javadekar, minister of HRD Affairs, says that the ministry is soon going to take a final call for making the class X board exams compulsory.

The minister was addressing a press conference post the 64th CABE (Central Advisory Board of Education) meeting on Tuesday in New Delhi. Many state boards are already conducting class X board examinations.

Class X board exams were scrapped in the year 2010 to reduce pressure on students. The exams can become compulsory soon. The compulsion of the exams wouldn’t come into affect before next session, said the minister.

While the ministry is in favor of making the examination a compulsion, the final decision would be made after consultation with CBSE.

A presentation regarding making the class X board exams compulsory was also made during the CABE meeting.
