Diabetes today is the most acute problem related to people all over the world.Looking at this many schools in Delhi try to educate the teachers,parents and the students by imparting the training to them for this. The Public Health Foundation of India (PHFI), HRIDAY (Health Related Information Dissemination Amongst Youth), the International Diabetes Federation (IDF) and Sanofi India Limited announced today the roll-out of the KiDS (Kids and Diabetes in Schools) ‘School Diabetes Information Pack’ designed for India in public and private schools in Delhi.

Both private and the government schools around 15 schools receive training sessions for the diabetes.and the Information Packs managing diabetes from experts in healthcare, public health and health promotion from HRIDAY and PHFI.The pack provides the information about diabetes to teachers, kida and the parents suffered from the diabetes and  suggests an extra- curricular activities to engage the children with them.The information about diabetes will reached to 3,00,000t eachers,students and the families by the end of 2014, HRIDAY,the partner NGO implementing KiDS training programmes in school .It focuss on teachers and school staff and the kids about information related to diabetes.

Dr. David Chaney, Senior Education Specialist at IDF said – “the KIDS project has a unique opportunity to influence how we perceive and manage diabetes in and outside of the schools.We wants children to be feel comfortable while managing diabetes in shools and at the same time share the care – giving educating networks the best way to dealing with the diabetes.The projest deals with the positive impact with the communities to dael with general.”

Sanofi also brings the real benefits to people about diabetes. a lack of education and the knowledge creates the discrimination about those who are affected. The KIDS project is an opportunity to collaborate with Sanofi  on an important public health initiative with organizations such as – IDF, PHFI ,and ISPAD to focuss on key priority will be the diabetes awareness.

HRIDAY also recieves a tremendous response from all the schools participating in project KIDS. Ms. Radhika Shrivastava ,Deputy director HRIDAY said –“ We are enthused by the teachers,students, parents,that the success of the initial phase of the project  in the 15 schools in the DELHI will also paved the way for upscaling in other schools.We are also advocating the authorities for the integration of the module on Diabetes Management and Prevention .the regular teachers training in Government as well as Private schools.

 About KiDS project- PHASE1,2014- awareness meetings and activities in schools with key stakeholders such as – nurses, teachers.parents and children ,development and the distribution of the information packs among the teachers and also to educate the parents and the children. A Global ‘Diabetes in Schools’ Toolkit for IDF Member Associations to roll out the project, across India and in other parts of the world.

 PHASE 2 –Will continue to work with multistake holders approach the children with the diabetes in school and to fight against discrimination.

About Diabetes – It is a chronic disease and characrterized by the increase in blood glucose concentrations (hyperglycemia). Over time, uncontrolled hyperglycemia leads to the macrovascular and microvascular complications of diabetes. Macrovascular complications, which affect the large blood vessels, include heart attack, stroke and peripheral vascular disease. Microvascular complications affect the small blood vessels of the eyes (retinopathy), kidney (nephropathy) and nerves (neuropathy). The global incidence of diabetes is growing at an alarming rate, with more than 382 million people worldwide living with the condition today.
