IIM A is widely regarded as the pinnacle of higher education in the country. The 'return of investment' criteria that most of us take into consideration while choosing the college, is better than any other MBA college in the entire country. Every single MBA aspirant in the country dreams of studying at IIM-A one day. But only a handful of those dreams actually come true.
So, this piece of news may come as a shock to the lakhs of MBA aspirants throughout the country.
Recently, fees for its two-year postgraduate programme in management (PGPM) has been increased by Indian Institute of Management Ahmedabad (IIM-A) from Rs 18.5 lakh to Rs 19.5 lakh. It will be applied from this year's batch.
The amount is for two years including tuition, academic support, accommodation, basic health care, medical insurance, and alumni association membership fee.
The increase is bagged by the increase in inflation rate as the institute's costs have been rising in step with inflation.
It further stated that even with the proposed increase, 2016-18 fee would be 10 percent lower in inflation adjusted terms compared to 2009-11 fee and it is committed to continue offering deserving students the most generous scholarship scheme among management schools in India. Financial aid is being offered to 251 PGP and PGP-FABM students, which is 29 percent of the total student strength.
