The Capital on Wednesday saw Fashionista-The School Of Fashion Technology in association with DNAJ, present the trail blazer of "Fashionista Fashion Fest 2012".Choreographed by the very talented Mr. Vijay Roy, the trail blazer showcased stunning International models don the compositions created by the students of the institute.
A precursor to the forthcoming mega fashion show in February, the event proved to be a practical session providing the much needed hands-on experience to the students. All the aspects of production from the measurements to trial and fittings were executed by students. Speaking on the occasion, Neetu Pavan Manikatalia, Managing Director, Fashionista- The School of Fashion Technology, said, "Fashionista has always believed in endowing its students with practical exposure. Not only does the show provide students with an industry interface but it also promises them a platform as budding designers, and this is a significant step towards achieving it."
Encouraging young talent, Ms.Manikatalia presented awards in various design categories. While Sakshi Kochar was adjudged the 'Product Development Designer in Interiors', the 'Lamretta Designer for 2012' was awarded to Ayush Madan. The 'Fashionista Fashion Festival Budding Designer' award was jointly won by Sakshi Pawar, Nazeer Ahmed and Mudita Chaddha.
Giving further opportunity to young fashion talents- name of students chosen to showcase their fashion creations in upcoming shows slated for February and April were also announced. "The awards not only provide an exposure for a creative ability of young fashion students but also gives them an opportunity for the eventual transition from the classroom to the industry" added Ms.Manikatalia.
The Fashionista Fashion Fest 2012 to be held in the first week of February will also kick off a five city tour, promoting budding designers across the country. Covering Delhi Kolkata, Bangalore and Mumbai, the tour will organize a series of beautiful couture runway fashion shows in association with top models and designers throughout the year.
In addition to being an unique juxtaposition of diverse spectrum of opportunities for talented fashion designers, the fashion shows promise to attract the participation of some of the most creative makeup artists, trend setting hair stylists and stunning runway models from the industry. Experiencing the electric energy of major runaway production, the shows will provide students a genuine showcasing platform as designers and pave a concrete way for them, to the fashion industry.
