In order to give tribute to the great scholar and philosopher, Swami Vivekananda, The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) has announced an 'Expression Series' programme on January 11 and January 12.Basically, in this programme, a student can submit an essay, poem or drawing on any of the topics provided

A  circular issued by D T Sudharsan Rao, CBSE joint secretary and in-charge (academic and training) said that the Central Board of Secondary Education proposed an expression series on Swami Vivekananda in order to pay tribute to this great scholar and philosopher. He was born on 12 January 1863 and died on 4 July 1902. He was regarded as the greatest sons of India as he motivated people through his beliefs education, dedication, life-goal and knowledge.

The competition to submit essays, poems, drawings is only for students of CBSE-affiliated schools. It is divided into three parts- Class 1 to 5, Class 6 to 8 and Class 9 and 10. As per the circular, a prize of Rs 2500 will be given to best 36 entries and each one will get a merit and certificate for participation.

The mode is simple; students can participate through schools or by submitting their entries online through the website.

Expression Series are organized by the Central Board of Secondary Education on great leaders of India with a purpose to develop students and to make them realize and aware about the sacrifices made by men and women who selflessly served for their nation. The current independent India is due to the efforts of these leaders who worked towards building our nation and through this initiative CBSE seeks to aim at higher participation of students.
