With English as the first paper, the CBSE board exams of class 12 are all set to commence from March 5, 2018. As the D-Day approaches near most of the students put more emphasis on preparing the subjects such as science and Math and core subject like English is left ignored in the process.

Students generally tend to leave the English for the last moment without realizing that their little efforts in the English paper can help in increasing their overall percentage.

Ms Amrita Chaudhuri, PGT English, Mother's Public School (Bhubaneswar, Odisha) regarding CBSE Class 12 English examination said 'little effort can really increase the overall percentage of a student in this paper. Practicing at least 5 sample papers before the exam can increase the fluency and accuracy of a student.'

'Neat presentation, good and clear handwriting, adhering to the word limit will help in time management and score the best,' she advises students. 'Once you get the question paper remain calm and cool, select the proper questions, frame the answers in your mind and then start answering the paper,' she adds.

Below are some important tips from Ms Chaudhuri to help the students gain more marks:

Reading section
Before reading the passage, students must read the questions as this will help them in finding the answers quickly as they appear in the passage. This is the most scoring section and with good efforts students can score good marks.

Writing section
Follow the format strictly while attempting the writing section. Keep the writing simple and try to use some simple vocabulary while writing your answers.

Grammar section
Revise all the basics of the grammar and practice as much as possible. Refer to other books and sample papers for the practice.

Literature
Read the poetry and prose text thoroughly. Underline the important phrases as they can be used as it is while answering the questions. Take the help of the teacher and practice previous year papers along with the sample papers. Strictly adhere to the word limit.
