Yet again the education sector has not been given the crucial worth it deserves. The funds granted to the education sector are not even sufficient for the primary education.
Out of the total budget of Rs 17, 77,477 crore, the funds allocated to the education sector is Rs 68,968 crore. It is merely 3.8 percent of the total budget.
The Students Federation of India (SFI) alleged BJP and the Finance Minister Arun Jaitley for over- looking the Education sector demands.
SFI state president Y Ramu and general secretary Noor Mohammed remarking on Centre's Atitude said that by not granting sufficient funds for the essential institutions the centre has shown its real colours.
Even after many expert recommendations to atleast allocate 10 per cent budget for the education sector the government has not considered it.
For initiating the work on nine premier educational institutions including IIT, IIM and central university, the AP government had sought a grant of Rs 1500 crore.
Startlingly the amount of grants allocated, are not even adequate enough to meet the expenses for land levelling works and payments of the staff.
