C. Rangarajan who is the former chairperson of the Economic Advisory Council of the Prime Minister was invited as the chief guest at the sixth convocation of the ICFAI Foundation of Higher education, Hyderabad.
The ICFAI Foundation for Higher Education is a Deemed University, which has been established under Section 3 of UGC Act. 1956. The foundation mainly consists of IBS Hyderabad which is the Faculty of Management, Faculty of Science and Technology (FST) and Faculty of Law (FOL). The college hosted the sixth convocation ceremony for the students who graduated from the institute. 1,438 students, including 516 girls received degrees during the ceremony. C. Rangarajan emphasized that the Secondary education in India is at "crossroads" and will require radical changes in order to develop the quality of education according to the global standards. He also mentioned that significant developments in the agricultural, industrial and scientific sector of the country will depend on the generation and the younger generation gets the quality of education then no obstacle will be there on the nation's progress.
Rangarajan is the Vice-Chancellor of the institute and during the ceremony, he said "It is cliché to say that higher education in India is at crossroads. But this hackneyed and overused phrase still contains an element of truth. We have reached a point where the need for bringing about some radical changes in higher education has become urgent. The excellent quality of the best students of our universities and colleges is well recognized at home and abroad and is not in doubt. But, it is the average, which is causing concern."
"The importance of various quality managers needs to be successful in a dynamic environment." S M Datta said, who is the former chairman of Hindustan Unilever Limited who was also present during the ceremony.
