After 7 years Delhi University is all set to start its recruitment process again. It has invited applications for the posts of 378 permanent teachers all across the departments in the university. It includes 187 general category posts, 55 SC posts, 29 ST posts, 100 OBC posts and 7 posts for the disabled people.

The recruitment process will be conducted for the posts of assistance professors across 41 departments and centers.

This step was taken as per the direction by the Ministry of HRD with a motive to fill in the vacant posts. As per the statement that has been given the HRD minister Mr. Prakash Javadekar last year, the ministry would go for recruitment drive across all the major institutions.

He also directed that all the vacancies should be filled by the year 2018. Furthermore, the ministry has given directions that ad-hoc appointments should not exceed 5 percent of the faculty strength. After the Academic and Executive councils had passed the University Grant Commission’s amendments on teachers’ recruitment, DU had given his way for the recruitment drive in December last year.

DU teachers were not so happy with the decision and had submitted memorandums to the ministry. They were protesting against the decision of hiring freeze for quite a long time.
