Delhi University (DU) will begin their admission process in March this year, two months earlier than usual. The cut-offs are likely to be complemented or replaced by entrance tests. This has added to the woes of students, as a few competitive exams have already been scheduled to take place during the board examinations. This proposal, which is part of the suggestions made by the Standing Committee on admissions to the vice chancellor, is still in its nascent stage. A university official has stated that the advancement of the schedule is for providing a bigger window to students for completing the registration process. As the form can be completed only after the board results are announced, the application will be completed only as per the earlier schedule.
An entrance test is also being considered for admissions to DU. It has not been finalised whether it should be subjective or objective. DU is yet to decide whether the admissions should be based solely on the entrance test score or a weightage for marks of Class XII board exams should also be considered.
Before being incorporated into the
admission policy for the upcoming session, these recommendations will be made
to the Vice – Chancellor by the admissions committee. They will then be placed
before the statutory bodies - Academic Council (AC) and Executive Council (EC).
Last year, the undergraduate admission process had been made possible through their online admission portal. Upon registering and uploading self-attested and scanned copies of their documents, students can make their payment online. Students can then login to their registered account and check the cut-off marks for their desired courses and colleges. The admission form can then be printed after this simple procedure.
