Following the suggestion of the AAP government about giving preference to the work experience of the guest teachers in the recruitment process, Lt Governor Anil Baijal has put the recruitment process of the 9000 teachers on hold.
The decision was announced only a day before the candidates could start applying for the advertised posts online. These posts were advertised by the Delhi Subordinate Services Selection Board (DSSSB) on August 7.
The development was further confirmed by the officials in the Lt Governor's office.
Delhi Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia wrote to the Lt Governor Anil Baijal that Delhi Assembly had passed a resolution under which it seeks to halt the upcoming recruitment process until the department of education formulates a policy to give proper weightage to the guest teachers in the process.
On Thursday, a notice was issued by the DSSSB in the same regard in which it said that "following requests from the Directorate of Education to put the process on abeyance till further instructions, that the advertised vacancies are being withdrawn".
“On appeal from Delhi govt. and Delhi Assembly, Lt. Gov. Delhi holds teacher recruitment. Am sure Guest Teachers regularization will get justice now,” Sisodia tweeted, with a copy of the notice.
