HBR (Harvard Business Review), the university which designs a multitude of digital learning programs in the US, for the first time is planning to launch digital learning courses in India. The key problem in India, namely employability of graduates, will be the main focus of this course. Most importantly, this course will be free of cost and hence is targeted to reach the masses on a large scale.

Vivek Chachra, Country manager (India) of HBP (Harvard Business Publishing) said that at the entry level, most employees’ knowledge and skills do not match the employers’ needs and thus there is a big gap. 80% of 12 million graduates who enter the work place every year are unemployable by organisations due to skill mismatch. The HBR Ascend program has been created to make use of the rapidly evolving digital landscape and have a greater impact in the country. It intends to build and reach the lives of the individuals on a large scale which is many times larger than what has been seen in the past 90 years of our history.

Mr. Chachra also mentioned that HBP is a non-profit subsidiary of Harvard Business School and is  looking for collaboration with any channel to expand and reach to individual  students and career experts who can access the content using a smart phone.
