In what can be hailed as an incredible initiative, the
Telangana government has launched its digital classrooms programme in
3,352 high schools in the state.
The programme has been formally started by K Srihari, who is the Deputy Chief Minister
and also holds the education portfolio, and K T Rama Rao who is the IT Minister.
An educational channel, Mana TV, has been started by the government which would
allow students to witness the teaching of various subjects. Srihari said that
the digital class initiative was aimed at helping the teachers in imparting
education and not to eliminate them from the education system.
Out of the total 5,400 Government-run high schools, 3,352 were covered under the scheme on the first day.
He also added that all schools would get the benefit of this initiative by the
beginning of the academic year in 2017.
Srihari revealed that this initiative aligns with Chief Minister K
Chandrasekhar Rao's emphasis on human resource development for realizing the
dream of making Telangana a 'golden' State.
Commenting on the digital revolution that is taking the world by storm, the IT
Minister said that incorporating modern technology is the key to rapid growth of
the nation.
Rao also revealed that efforts are on to provide Internet connection to
all households in the state.
