The AAP government in Delhi, ever since it came to power, has been organizing regular mega Parents’ Teachers meetings on a large scale in order to update the parents about the progress made by their kids in the school.
The third such meeting, this is scheduled to be held very soon, would aim on easing the parents’ pressure. It would also aim to take the pressure off the students and assist them in all the ways possible. The third such meeting would be for class 12th students and would take place on Sunday.
As per the official statement from the government, "Since the Class 12th Board examination is fast approaching, the Directorate of Education (DoE) has directed all schools to apprise the parents about their wards' progress."
The decision to conduct such mega meetings twice a year was announced last year by education minister Manish Sisodia. The first such meeting was in October 2016. As per the minister, separate budgets for almost 1,000 schools have been passed in order to enable them to organize such meetings.
As per the education minister of the national capital, "So far, the PTMs were not held in government schools at all. But now, the PTM will be held biannually in government schools. The focus of the PTM will be to encourage one-to-one communication between parents and teachers. The parents should celebrate the occasion as it is being held to improve the quality of education in schools."
One of the highlights is that close to 70% of the parents came to the school for the first time. However, one of the lowest points was when a girl committed suicide when a negative feedback was given to her parents.
