In a statement made by the SC New Delhi, the court has taken a tough stand against the private nursery schools.

The court said “Once you have taken land from DDA (Delhi Development Authority) you have to abide by the Education Act”.

The court said that “Private schools running in Delhi cannot hike the fees without government’s order”. Supreme Court upholded the decision made by the Delhi High Court and this is going to be a major setback for the private unaided schools in Delhi.

“Once you have taken land from DDA (Delhi Development Authority) you have to abide by the Education Act”, said the Supreme Court while dismissing the petition of the private schools.

Earlier in January 2016 Delhi High Court had passed an order stating that schools on land provided by DDA cannot hike the fees at their will”.

The court said that “The schools cannot indulge in commercialization and profiteering of school education. The fee that is to be charged by the schools should be under the regulations of DoE. DoE can interfere if the fee hike by a particular school is found to be excessive and perceived as indulging in profit making”.

There are around 400 unaided private schools in Delhi and this is going to be a huge setback for them.
