The Delhi government is battling against smog and has come up with some major steps.

The major steps include closure of schools for 3 days. The move comes to battle unprecedented levels of smog that have cut the visibility drastically and turned the national capital as a virtual gas chamber.

Chief Minister has also banned construction and demolition work for 5 days and the use of diesel run generators for 10 days. These move come in a desperate attempt to control crisis in Delhi.

People of Delhi are being forced to use surgical masks while travelling. The closure of schools is aimed at children not been affected by the dangerous pollution levels.

“The larger problem is because of the neighboring states, where farmers are burning crop stubble in a wide area”, said CM of Delhi. He also sought intervention of the central government.

In a emergency meeting called to tackle this problem, Kejriwal said that “This is the time to set aside the politics and find a solution to the problem”.

He added that the coal based thermal plant at Badarpur would be shut for 10 days as it generates fly ash.

It is known that the Delhi pollution levels worsened after Diwali with pollution levels touching PM 2.5. The pollution levels in Delhi continued to be classified as “severe”.
