The Common Law Admission Test (CLAT) has been scheduled on May 12 and will be held in pen paper mode. Online registrations for the same will commence from January 10, 2019. Every year, the test is conducted to grant admissions into five year integrated law degree and one year LLM degree across 21 National Law Universities in India.

10+2 pas candidates are eligible to apply for the five year course and candidates with LLB degree are eligible to apply for the LLM courses. The last date to apply for the exam is March 31.

This year, CLAT will be conducted in pen-paper mode. The decision was taken last year during the 4th meeting of the National Law University (NLU) Consortium at National Law School of India University (NLSIU), Bangalore. The decision was taken owing to various technical glitches in the online examination system due to which candidates demanded that exam be conducted again.

Last year more than 54000 candidates appeared for the exam and soon after the exam more than 400 candidates complained that they lost 10-15 minutes due to power cuts, login issues, slow computers etc. The Supreme Court had directed the National University of Advanced Legal Studies (exam conducting body) to award compensatory marks to the students who had lost time due to technical glitches in the exam.
