HRD Minister Prakash Javadekar has given signals that a resolution is soon going to be passed for making the Class X boards examination compulsory for all the students from the coming academic session i.e. 2017-18.
“The CBSE (Central Board of Secondary Education) board would be meeting at the end of this month to finalise the same”, told the minister to the press.
The minister added that “I am confident that from the coming academic year i.e. 2017-18 the class X board exams would be made compulsory, as the board of CBSE is meeting this month and they surely will pass the resolution”.
The ministry is also working on the amendment of Right to Education (RTE) Act and the proposal would be put forth to the cabinet.
The minister added that it is quite unfair that millions of the students across the country are taking various examinations and a few were not.
Under the present RTE Act a student can choose for Class X board examination or school based internal examinations.
The
act also says no detention till class eighth.
