From this academic session onwards, students of CISCE board will require 33 percent marks in contrast to 35 percent marks for passing the ICSE exams and candidates of ISC marks will require 35 percent marks instead of 40 percent marks.
A top official of the CISCE board said: "Council for Indian School Certificate Examination (CISCE) has decided to lower the pass marks for both class 10, 12 board examinations".
CISCE secretary and chief executive Gerry Arathoon issued a circular stating, “Kindly note that the change in the pass marks for the ICSE and ISC examinations will be effective from the examination year 2018 onwards and not 2019”.
The general secretary of the Association of Heads of ICSE Schools (West Bengal) Nabarun Dey said the notice regarding the change in passing marks has been sent to all the affiliated schools.
The exam schedule for the class 10 and 12 was also released by the board on Wednesday however; the declared dates are still tentative and can change depending on the Assembly poll schedule in some states.
