In a bid to augment inclusive growth in students and also to make sure the school children enjoy quality time with parents after school, government schools in Chandigarh conceived desirable and pragmatic methods of learning for various schools across the state.
Objectives and Measures:
- As per the newly conceived concept, the schools would extend two hour more to make sure students had their homework done and devote to recreation period. The schools will then extend their period to 4 pm from the existing 2 pm
- Four government schools in Chandigarh were inaugurated earlier this day. Punjab Governor VP Singh Badnore, while deliberating during the inaugural function, stressed on the importance of school children having quality after-school-time with parents. He further reiterated that extended time in schools will enable the school children to have their homework done and enjoy quality time with parents at home
- The Chandigarh Education Department has been notified that the state government had decided to first implement the model in a few schools as a pilot project and subsequently implement it in every government school if found fruitful
- The city is known for its majestic architecture and is also considered as one of the most preferred retirement destinations. The Governor, at the inaugural function, stated that several retired allied officers can visit the schools and render motivational interaction for the children.
Beside his Excellency, the inaugural function was attended by MP Kirron Kheer, Finance and Education Secretary Sarvjit Singh, Principal Secretary to Governor MP Singh, and several other dignitaries.
Stressing on the issue of irregular school teachers, Kirron Kheer said, "Children in Dhanas complained that teachers were not coming to classes. I urge the Education Department to act tough on such teachers. Just suspension is not enough. Take stricter action. The day we get teachers who want to teach children from their heart, will be a fortunate day."
