UGC introduced new changes in NET exam from 2018

UGC NET 2018 exam is scheduled to be held in the July and will be conducted by the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE). The upper age limit for the candidates interested in applying for the JRF has been increased by 2 years. Online registrations for the July exam will commence in the month of March (March 6, 2018). CBSE will soon release the official notification for the exam on the cbsenet.nic.in.

Major changes introduced

  • Unlike the earlier format, from this year there will only be two papers in the UGC NET.
  • Paper 1 will be 1 hour long and will consist of 50 compulsory questions for 100 marks
  • Paper 2 will be 2 hour long and will consist of 100 compulsory questions for 200 marks.
  • Paper 1 will be of general nature and will test the teaching/research aptitude of the candidate along with reasoning ability, comprehension, divergent thinking and general awareness.
  • Paper 2 will be of the subject chosen by the candidate
  • The upper age limit for the JRF has been increased by two years

  • Date of publication of notification: 1 February 2018
  • Online Application Process: 6 March 2018- 5 April 2018
  • Payment of Application Fee: Till 6 April 2018
  • Exam Date: 8 July 2018
