As per noted scientist GD Yadav, central universities are preferred over state universities due to which the quality of education is going down. He said this on Saturday as he called for doing away with traditional style of classroom teaching.

He further added that there is a huge gap between state and national universities. The state universities are suffering more as more favor is granted to Central universities in terms of quality of knowledge.

He gave this speech while addressing the 32nd convocation of Sant Gadge Baba Amravati University. He is vice-chancellor of Mumbai-based Institute of Chemical Technology.

He has won Padma Shri and he added to his speech that in order to extend new knowledge to the students, the universities need to create new knowledge and remain at the forefront of advances in science and technology.

Yadav criticized our education system as not a single university or an IIT of the country is among the top 100 universities of the world.

So, Yadav appealed to the teachers to give up their traditional style of classroom teaching and focus on developing ideas among students.

He quoted that students should be taught through discussions and debates. Participation- based education is required as in classroom teaching, students' span of concentration is only for seven minutes.

He further stated by Quoting the mythological story of Eklavya and Dronacharya, Yadav linked it to the modern day Internet. Internet is like incarnation of Dronacharya but modern day Eklavya needs to take action after thinking.
