In order to ensure the safety of the children going to the schools, CCTV cameras will be installed in the government schools of Delhi. According to the reports, CCTV cameras will be installed in 1029 schools.
The government has also ordered the private and unaided schools to install CCTV cameras in the school premises having recording facility of minimum 15 days. "We will install CCTV cameras in each of the classrooms in all of our schools to ensure safety and security of our students," a top official from the directorate of education (DOE) told HT.
As of now, government schools have CCTV cameras installed only at the main gate and few other places inside the school.
A review will also be done to check the functioning of the installed CCTV cameras.
"The education minister has already given directions to concerned departments to work on the specifications of the CCTV cameras that will be required. Once that is finalized, we will move ahead with the plan," the source said in a recent HT report.
To further ensure the safety of the children CBSE ordered the psychometric test of school staff.
"They must get the police verification and psychometric evaluation done for all the staff employed. Such verification and evaluation for non- teaching staff such as bus drivers, conductors, peon, and other support staff must be done very carefully and in a detailed manner," the notice read.
