In order to keep the students up to date with the emerging technologies in the computer, CBSE has decided to introduce Artificial Intelligence (AI) in schools and has released the curriculum for the same. The course will be included as a skill subject rather as an academic subject. It will be introduced in class 8th as a certification course and from class 9th onwards it will be taught as a regular subject. Along with the syllabus, CBSE has also released the learning outcome of the course.

According to the CBSE’s guidelines any school with 20 computers can apply for AI as a subject for their students. Along with computers, the school must have a minimum of 50 Mbps bandwidth for computers.

Schools will also be required to train the teachers so they can teach effectively to the students and CBSE will provide training to the teachers from the schools which will choose AI a subject.

The will be no assessment for the class 8 students and from class 9 onwards the assessment will be the same as the assessment for the other skills. It may also be noted that CBSE is offering this subject as an optional subject and therefore it will not replace any existing subjects which are FIT and IT.

As of now, the board has decided to introduce the subject in class 8 and class 9 only and the decision to introduce it in higher classes will be taken in due time.
