The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) is mulling over the idea of introducing the subjects such as computer-based tests, attendance waivers along with the flexible section options for the students with the special needs.

The board is in the process of formulating the comprehensive guidelines for the children with special needs and has already proposed that such students be given exemption from the two or one compulsory language board exams.

“It has been proposed that Indian sign language or braille should be treated as a language to satisfy the formula prescribed by the board,” a senior official said.

“For students with mobility issues, the CBSE has recommended the creation of online class content for children. Attendance requirements in cases of children with severe disabilities can be waived,” the official added.

The board has already written to the stakeholders and states about the matter and has invited their feedback on the draft.
