Applicants appearing in the upcoming National Eligibility Test (NET) shall not be allowed to carry either a pen or wear a wrist watch to the examination hall.

The Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE), which is the convenor of this examination, shall provide each student with a ball point pen, and also arrange for a wall clock in every examination room.

The CBSE has also made it clear that the use of pencil on the answer sheet is strictly prohibited. Any candidate found using a pencil shall have his/her application being rejected.

The National Eligibility Test for Assistant Professor and/or Junior Research Fellowship shall be held on 27th December. The test shall be held in a total of 83 subjects, across 88 centres in the country.

These measures have been taken by the CBSE as a precaution to prevent any paper leaks, Prashant Pagare, senior faculty associated with the education department of Dr Babasaheb Ambedkar Marathwada University confirmed. Earlier this year, papers of the All India Pre-Medical Test were leaked.

The AIPMT, which was scheduled to be held on May 3, was cancelled after the matter of alleged question paper leak reached the Supreme Court. The keys to the answers were circulated electronically across many states. The NET shall be the first such exam where in the students shall be debarred to carry their pens and watches into the examination halls.
