In a most recent circular issued by the CBSE, the board allowed schools to open tuck shops inside the school premises to sell NCERT books, stationary and other items which students may need in their day to day school activities.

In an earlier issued circular, CBSE strictly told all the affiliated schools not to indulge in any sort of commercial activity inside the school premises and that their only role is to provide quality education to the children and they should focus on doing so.

This notification was issued by the CBSE on April 19, 2017.

In an attempt to make NCERT books available to the students of the CBSE affiliated schools, CBSE told schools to register purchase the NCERT books through the NCERT website on the basis of the requirements.

CBSE asked the schools to register and place their demand for the books for the current session on the NCERT's official site--
There are about 2000 schools in the nation which are affiliated to the CBSE board.
