On the leaking of the CAT exam paper’s toughest section on the social media last Sunday, IIM Bangalore said that it was an isolated incident, though some candidates have complained that it is complete mismanagement at the test centres. Images of questions from the data interpretation and logical reasoning section of the test were leaked online by a candidate during the test at around 3.10 pm. This raised a doubt on the security, when the candidates were not even allowed to wear shoes and socks while taking the test.
A mid-level executive of an IT firm who wrote the test for the second time, said that there have been technical issues before, but the questions being circulated when the exam was going on, is a serious issue and that a thorough investigation is required. An anonymous aspirant from Delhi said that some candidates were allowed to enter with watches and wallets into the exam centres, but there were no such cases from his centre. He was also doubtful about how one could be sure this was a one off incident or being done by only one such candidate.
There were many other allegations on the recent CAT 2016 regarding some questions being wrong and the score calculation not being correct. CAT, which is a reputed and prestigious exam, in recent history, has had quite a few blemishes including technical glitches, wrong questions, questionable score calculations, and now the latest is a question leak that went viral, complained Deekshant Sehrawat, Director, Roots Education and an alumni of IIM Kolkata. The first computer based CAT in 2009, had technical glitches because of a virus attack due to which some 10000 aspirants had to take up a retest.
