British Council India launches Education UK Alumni Awards

In order to honor the outstanding achievements made by business professionals, entrepreneurs and community leaders across the globe, the British Council India has launched Education UK Alumni Awards. The Alumni Awards showcase the impact and value of UK higher education by raising the students' along with their universities.

Who are eligible for applying?

UK university alumni from the 14 participating countries are eligible to apply. Nominations closes on October 16 and applications on October 31, 2016. The winners will be announced in March 2017.

Alumni must have studied in the UK at degree level or above:

  • Within the last 15 years (i.e. 2001 or later)
  • For a minimum of one term or semester
  • Enrolled at an officially recognized (160 institutions) or listed (650 institutions) UK higher education institution

Alumni from following countries can apply:

  • India
  • Egypt
  • Ghana
  • Greece
  • Hong Kong
  • Indonesia
  • Malaysia
  • Mexico
  • Nigeria
  • Pakistan
  • Saudi Arabia
  • Thailand
  • Turkey
  • USA.

According to a report, in the year 2016, the award was held in 10 countries and received more than 1,000 applications. Over 830 applications were shortlisted for 30 awards, out of which 220 applications were from India. Indian entries were the highest amongst the 10 countries taking part in this global initiative.
