Mumbai University's third year BMS students were in for a shock for a recently when some major corrections were announced at close to halfway during their exam yesterday.
According to the students, these corrections were notified during their Operations Research exam which was held from 11 am to 1.30 pm. One of the students said, "A teacher came in, and made corrections in the first question. Most students had finished answering the question. The correction meant a change in units, so we had to redo the problem," The question which was corrected carried 7.5 marks.
Another question was later on corrected by the invigilators, according to the students. A student giving exam said, "Almost 40 minutes into the paper, the invigilator came with a correction in the first question. A little later, another correction was made in the second question. While it was minor, these constant announcements created confusion in the class,"
Because of the lengthy paper, the corrections were a setback for the students. A student said, "We lost more than 20 minutes in doing the problem all over again. When we asked the invigilators for extra time but they said the university had not told them to give any,"
According to Dinesh Bhonde, there was certan 'interchange of words' in a couple of questions of the question paper.
