Ambedkar University, Delhi, (AUD) has witnessed a whopping increase in the number of applications for undergraduate courses as the number of applications has increased by over 173% in a year.
B R Ambedkar University was established by Delhi Government in 2008. It is a state funded varsity with a student strength of 1800. The university offers various undergraduate, postgraduate and doctoral programmes. It offers 15 postgraduate program- English, history, development studies, environment and development, gender studies, psychology, visual art practice, psychotherapy and clinical thinking, literary art and critical thinking, economics, sociology, education, film studies. It also offers seven undergraduate programmes "” economics, English, history, mathematics, psychology, sociology and social sciences and humanities.
The admission process for undergraduate courses offered began on May 9, and the last date for the submission of application was on June 24, 2016. According to University's officials, a total of 26,777 applications is received for its undergraduate courses which are an increase of 173% from last year's 9,778. For Postgraduate courses registrations closed with a total of 480 seats, whereas the university received 7,885 applications which are again an increase from last year's 5,687. The university is set to begin new campus at Karampura with 200 seats, which brings the total seats to 445. Splitting it according to the campuses, the university received 15,823 applications for the Kashmere Gate campus and for its new Karampura campus and it has received a total of 10,954 applications.
