Alumni of Sainik School Purulia, a leading residential public school of India, launched a trust dedicated to pro student projects and to help young alumni achieve their career goals. On the day of Saraswati Puja, SSP SWIFT was formally launched - Sainik School Purulia Student Welfare and Inspiration Foundation Trust. The trust has its headquarters at New Delhi, and aims to use modern means of connectivity to leverage the vast network of school alumni worldwide. Regional hubs are planned at Purulia, Singapore and Dallas, USA.

SSP SWIFT is a volunteer driven , not-for-profit, organization dedicated to the betterment of Sainik School Purulia, its students and alumni. The goals of the trust include - (i) To promote and execute student oriented programs at Sainik School Purulia. (ii) To promote education and career interests of alumni of Sainik School Purulia. (iii) To encourage and facilitate individuals, groups and classes to do school related projects and provide assistance.

At the launch, trust consists of five trustees, twelve advisors and over hundred members. The trust has its logo which includes the motto "Lakshya Sadhya Atulya" - Set goals and work hard to become uncomparable.

Jagadish Gorain, Founder of Tiya Ship Management Pte Ltd & Tiya Scrap Metals Pte Ltd, Singapore, said "I welcome the recent launching of SSP SWIFT and I believe with a dedicated team at the helm, it will do good & meaningful work for the bebefit of SSP students. My support will be there with them." SSP SWIFT advisor Indranil Biswas, who has experience of advising a non profit in the North East called Exotic Echo, said "Let the Gen X and Y show the way by being innovative, transparent and humble. Hope this trust makes a difference for students and alumni". SSP SWIFT member Squadron Leader (retd) Prajesh Banerjee, a resident of Durgapur and a Kargil war hero said, "It is a very inspiring step taken by the alumni of our school under the leadership of young Purulions, who have shown a relentless ,selfless drive for creativity and honorable pursuits. I wish them all the best in their endeavor towards the well being of our identity with my heartfelt blessings." Avinash Kumar, a Dallas, Texas based VP of the Trust said, "Ethics, transparency and accountability are much needed in our society, and we at SSP SWIFT are fully committed for accountability, we have a detailed code of ethics to guide the actions of the trust."

The founding trustees represent the potential of the youth from classes of 1992 to 2010. The five trustees are Atul Rai, Chairman of the board of Trustees, Bibhav Pratik Rai, Sushil Burnwal, Satish Saurav and Sukhen Kumar Jana. The advisors bring in a blend of experience and youth, with Jagadish Gorain, a Singapore based CEO, Class of 1970, being the seniormost advisor and Ashutosh Salil, IAS, 2001 batch being the youngest advisor. The trust follows the model of some of India's greatest institutions like IIT Kanpur, IIT Bombay and IIT Roorkee where dedicated foundations exist for fundraising and project implementation, which complements the activities of their alumni associations.
