Examinations for entrance into medical colleges have been in the news for over a year now. A new controversy comes to the fore with each passing day. The tussle between the Supreme Court and the Union Government is far from over. Now there is another development in the case.
It has been reported that due to several delays, the final admissions to the para medical and medical courses in various medical college throughout the country won't be possible before September first week. After the NEET (national eligibility entrance test) is conducted, its results would only come out in August last week which would mean a substantial delay in the overall process.
NEET's second phase is expected to kick off from 24 July only. According to the various sources of the ACMPMC (Admission Committee for Medical and Para-Medical Courses), admissions were earlier slated to commence in July second week post the announcement of the GUJCET results.
But the ACMPMC has changed its stance now and says that the academic year would only commence from October since the admission process is expected to last till September. The committee is currently forming plans for admissions. But all these plans would only come good after the decision by the Supreme Court.
A couple of days back, the state Government of Gujarat moved the Supreme Court saying that the medical aspirants in the state are of the view that the NEET exam must be based on the Gujarat Secondary and Higher Secondary Education Board syllabus. About 85% of the medical seats in the state of Gujarat would be occupied by the students of the state.
