- An official notification has been released by the University of Calcutta inviting applications from interested and eligible candidates for admission to its Doctor of Philosophy programme (PhD) in the Department of Physics for the academic session of 2016.
All the interested applicants need to possess a Bachelor's degree in any discipline with Master of Science (M. Sc.) in Physics from a recognised university/institute.
The performance of the candidates will be gauged in the Research Eligibility Test (RET) and an interview conducted by the institute. Candidates who would have already qualified UGC/National Eligibility Test (NET)/GATE/Teacher Eligibility Test or equivalent examinations or have already obtained the M. Phil Degree would be exempted from the written test but will have to appear in the interview round. The admission test will be conducted by the University on July 26 and interviews will be held between July 26 and July 28. -
All candidates are required to pay an amount of Rs. 100 as application fees and have to download an application form from the official website, www.caluniv.ac.in.
The completely filled form has to be filled according to the prescribed format and the filled in application along with the self attested copies will have to be sent to The Head, Physics Department, University of Calcutta, 92 Acharya Prafulla Chandra Road (A. P. C.), Kolkata 700009. - The last date for submission of application forms is July 11.
