On Wednesday, Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) student’s wing Akhil Bharatiya Vidhyarthi Parishad (ABVP) organised “Chhatra hunkar rally” in Lucknow. The rally was organised demanding the government to bring about changes in the education system in Uttar Pradesh and work towards improving the quality of education which is the need of the hour. ABVP secretary, Sunil Ambekar, urged the Samajwadi Party, Congress and Bahujan Samaj Party to urgently introduce changes in the education system in the state.

Ambekar said that Samajwadi Party instead of using caste based politics should follow the ideology of Deen Dayal Upadhyay and further criticised other political parties for using student’s funds for politicising the SCs/STs issues and propagating ill-intentions. Taking a dig at Akhilesh Yadav and Samajwadi Party, a student leader from Aligarh said, “Crime against women is rising. The government must take measures to reduce these crimes. Students will not vote to get laptops and smartphones.”

Enchanted by PM Modi’s surgical strikes against terrorism and demonetisation policy against corruption, the national secretary of ABVP, Sunil Ambekar said, “There is a need for the surgical strike on the education system of UP to improve the quality of education.” He demanded from Samajwadi Party, BahujanSamaj Party, Congress and independent candidates to bring changes in the education system and explain their policies or agendas for education, youth employment and student union elections.

ABVP has been constantly criticised for their stand on the suicide of Rohith Vemula of Hyderabad University. Clearing their stance, Ambekar pointed that ABVP has always stood for the rights of the SCs/STs students and their education rights.
