Haryana Board of School Education (HBSE) has made Aadhaar Card compulsory for the board examinations for the year 2017. However this is just on experimental basis.

The decision would be mandatory for those appearing in the board exams in the year 2017.

The experiment is being done to bring transparency in the education system.

In an official statement the chairman of the board Dr. Jagbir Singh said that “the candidate will benefit from this experiment. And this will also stop the forgery of education certificates”.

He also said that “though the provision of Aadhaar card was already there but that was not mandatory. We have taken this step because of its usefulness”.

It may be recalled that the Aadhaar card was also made mandatory by the Gujarat government this year.

The CBSE (Central Board of Secondary Education) also made Aadhaar card mandatory for candidates appearing for Joint Entrance Examination. (JEE).
